A regional scheme
SEPA is the euro-area clearing arrangement and needs a euro account at the receiving end. It is not free cross-border: your own provider still sets the fee.
What a wire goes through
Wires usually pass through correspondent banks, which can deduct their own charge, so the credited amount may be lower than the sent amount. Compare what arrives, not what left.
A local transfer is not a network
It means a domestic rail in the same clearing area using the local currency, and the name differs by country. Use the wording and the fields the recipient gives you.
Common questions
Why is less money credited than I sent?
Correspondent and receiving banks can each take a charge, which is routine on cross-border wires. Budget from the credited amount and count the fees as part of the cost.
Does the purpose field matter?
Yes. A purpose that does not match the source of funds can get the payment returned or held for an explanation, so state it honestly and keep the receipt.
